A memoir is not an autobiographical account, the self of the writer comes into view only in so far as it sheds light on what transpired. Our Moon has Blood Clots is simultaneously a depiction of the violence in Kashmir through the eyes of a child who sees his world disappear as it is a serious rebuke to the intellectual and political community in India for their studied refusal to acknowledge the harm done to Kashmiri Pandits. The writing of an event in the form of a memoir asks for a specific kind of acknowledgement from the reader - the acknowledgement that the events that are described were true, they happened.
